THE SIPPING ROOM
Step into a world reminiscent of the Prohibition era at The Box SF's Sipping Room. Tucked away in the building's basement, this Hidden Speakeasy offers an unparalleled experience. Guests are greeted with the thrill of entering through one of two antique moving fireplaces, leading them to a wine cellar adorned with antique-inspired lighting and decor.
Designed for intimate gatherings, the Sipping Room comfortably hosts small groups of 8-10 guests. Its exclusivity is preserved as it's available only as an add-on for guests booking our upper-floor event packages. The ambiance is further enhanced with antique furniture, and for those looking to elevate the experience, bar and catering options are readily available.
The Box SF proudly unveils the Pressroom and Mercantile, a testament to the art of printing, located on the ground floor. Open to the public from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., this unique printed matter store is a treasure trove of design history. The Pressroom is home to original, restored printing presses, some dating back to 1838, and a staggering collection of over 15 million historic graphic design pieces spanning from 1700 to the present day. For those keen on owning a piece of history, on-site printed items are available for purchase.
Beyond its role as a store, the historic printing shop and 1850s mercantile transform into a versatile venue, perfect for creative off-site meetings, board discussions, workshops, film shoots, and receptions. With a capacity to host up to 50 guests, the space is equipped with modern amenities, including options for a full tech buildout, a projector for rent, bar and catering packages, a freight elevator for seamless logistics, and complimentary high-speed wifi.
