Company: McLoughlin Bros.

Incredible, rare McLoughlin Bros.' Newport Yacht Race board game from 1891. In addition to the original box and game board, this piece contains two litho yacht game-pieces and a spinner. Originally, there may have been more game pieces; however, they are no longer present in the set. The outer box is made of wood and cardboard with a label that extends across the surface and around the edges.

This piece is in good condition for its rarity and age. There has been wear over the years, but the front label is in very good shape with very few blemishes to obstruct the graphics. The floral labels around the edges are in a state of deterioration and a series of small repairs have been made to keep it together. Someone has attempted to sew the label back on with some black cord on the right bottom corner and a few pieces of tape were also used at the top edge. The inner board is also in good condition. There is one small place where the graphic has been lifted--due to a sticky patch on the bottom of one of the ships. The wheel spins and works well. This is a fantastic, gorgeous and rare example of early board games and the rise of leisure culture.
