Situated across three storeys (plus an underground speakeasy!). The Box SF offers customizable spaces capable of accommodating as many as 80 guests. Each of our six rental spaces is fully equipped with the latest technology, from pull-down projector screens to wi-fi access. And each can be furnished and configured to your exact needs and specifications.

We also offer in-house catering services. And if you prefer to hire an outside catering service, we are happy to provide an extensive list of approved caterers specializing in most every type of cuisine. That means that there’s sure to be something to please every palate.

An Event Space Like No Other

As impressive as The Box SF’s wide range of rental spaces and vast inventory of services may be, that’s not really what sets The Box SF apart. No, what makes The Box SF truly unique among the Bay Area’s many event spaces is the location itself. 

The Box SF is located in one of San Francisco’s most historic and iconic buildings. Built in 1906, the building first served as the home of William Randolf Hearst’s original printing plant. In 2018, the space was lovingly restored to its original grandeur, with enormous pains taken to preserve the site’s vintage character. The result is one of the Bay Area’s most popular, and most distinctive, event spaces.

Consider, for example, our famed Gate Room, which features a 337 year old dining table made from the gate doors of an ancient Chinese village. The space is perfect for large gatherings, from wedding receptions to graduation banquets to anniversary parties.

And then there’s the Sipping Room, an authentic underground speakeasy featuring a fully stocked wine cellar and bar package and catering options. The Sipping Room accommodates up to eight guests at a time and is available as an add-on option for those renting one of the upper floor event spaces.

In addition to The Press Room, The Box SF also features an authentic working replica of a 19th century mercantile. The Mercantile and Press Rooms are frequently booked both for photo and film shoots. If your fiance, spouse, or graduate has a taste for nostalgia or a love of the written word, The Mercantile and Press Room will be ideal backdrop for your engagement, wedding, or graduation photos and videos.
